From Historic Screens to Dream Homes: Why Baltimore’s Stories Matter

There’s something magical about stepping into a place that’s been part of Baltimore’s heartbeat for generations. For me, The Senator Theatre isn’t just a movie house — it’s a reminder of why I love this city, its history, and the way our spaces tell stories. Nestled in the historic Govans neighborhood of North Baltimore, The Senator is surrounded by tree-lined streets, charming pre-war homes, and a vibrant mix of local shops and eateries that reflect the area’s deep community roots.

In 2019, when the first Downton Abbey movie premiered, The Senator combined two of my favorite things — the elegance of Downton and the charm of a matinee. The Senator has been a landmark of cinematic excellence since 1939 and was named one of the top 20 movie theaters in the world in 2014. Sitting in that beautifully restored auditorium, I felt like I was part of something timeless.

Just like The Senator, Baltimore’s homes tell stories. Some have been lovingly restored, others modernized while keeping their historic charm. As a realtor, I help clients find spaces that feel like their Senator Theatre — places where they can create memories, host friends, and feel connected to the community.

Whether it’s a night at The Senator or finding the perfect home, it’s all about discovering spaces that make you feel something. That’s the beauty of Baltimore — every corner has a story, and I’d love to help you find yours.
